Passing of a friend...and more grown-up stuff

Keith got a phone call today that one of his friends, Dean Evans, was murdered. He & Keith worked together at Chili's before both moved on to new restaurangs. The title of this blog is a link to "part" of the story. They fail to mention here that the man was seeing a psychiatrist, and told that doctor that he was going to kill Dean. The police contacted Dean about this, but no restraining order was issued. Also what is not mentioned is that Dean was not supposed to be going to work Monday morning at 5am. A co-worker's father passed away the night before, and the co-worker had asked Dean to go in and cover for him that morning. So due to the fact that his was "unscheduled" and the mental instability of this man, he had to have been stalking Dean. It is absolutely horrible to think that he shot him once, and Dean ran and was then shot more times. Keith and I are both just SICK about this, and feel so sad for his little girl. Who now has to grow up without her daddy. Just senseless.

And because I see a psychiatrist, and live in "that" world, I know when you are extremely depressed that you say things you don't mean. But combine a death threat, with harrassing phone calls, texts, and stalking - HELLO issue a freaking restraining order. How hard is that??? And like my mom said, what good would that piece of paper have done at 5am that morning? Which is so true.

And then it hits me. I have never known someone who was murdered before. It is a scary thought, that someone our age, a friend of Keith's, could be murdered. How do you take someone's life? I just do not understand that. Especially someone with a little girl. And all because you were "mad" at him for dating your EX-girlfriend. Hello - she broke up with you!!! I am not trying to be smug, I just am in total shock today, and I know Keith is. It is just scary.

Put that together with my little cousin having such TERRIBLE ear troubles that he already has nothing in his ear canal b/c it has been removed, and now they have told his momma that she has to get him out of Middle Tennessee. Due to all the pollen, etc. here. So she is moving to New Mexico. So of course both boys will be going with her, and that means that Daren will not get to see the boys much (since they are divorced.) And although I know you will do anything to keep your children healthy, it is just a sad situation. Add to that some other health problems for Daren's sister (my other cousin), and it is just almost over-whelming.

I realized today - we are old enough for people to get murdered, and get sick, and all kinds of things i thought never happened to my family/friends. Parents are getting older, and people are retiring that you've seen work all your life. It is really over-whelming, I know I keep using that word, but I don't know what else to say.

So keep Dean's little girl in your prayers, along with the rest of his family; and all the co-workers he's ever known b/c he never met a stranger they said. God Bless You Dean.

Can you say MIGRAINE?

My head hurt so badly last night that I kept a cold pack on it for hours. Drugs, Mountain Dew, NOTHING helped. It stunk! Thank goodness it finally dulled enough for me to hit the post office to mail the ebay auctions, since I post that I mail on Thursdays. Then it hit again while I was out. They make ya feel SICK, just sick. So here I am at 3:09am - AWAKE, b/c the only thing that was helping was sleep. So I've gotten a lot of it.

Have you noticed the weird dreams you have when you sleep when you aren't feeling well? I dreamed all SORTS of crazy things, like I was teaching again - yIKES! Not to mention the INTENSE detail my dreams went into. SOOOOOO very weird. I was almost having a panic attack when i woke up just thinking about having to stand in front of a room of children. WOW!

And now I am LITERALLY waiting on paint to dry. Well actually it is ink. I stamped some stuff on glossy cardstock with Staz-On Black at 7:30pm and at 3:11am it is still WET. So I have asked my fellow TS'rs if I need to heat set? I as kind of afraid to with the glossy paper, but I wanna get these things DONE PRONTO and hopefully mailed tomorrow.

Now I wait for the swing leg to be delivered, ink to dry, and for daylight so I can paint some furniture.

So pray I don't chew my mouth guard in half while my head is hurting (YES I wear a mouth guard at night b/c I grind my teeth), and that I can go to sleep. This insomnia thing is really starting to SUCK after 2 years or so...

New Photos in my Flicks

I added new pictures to my Flicks (slideshows on right side of blog.) We started putting together my swing today, and of course one of the pieces is WRONG. So I called and left the company a message to see about getting the right part. I hoped to be swinging this afternoon. Oh well...

Painting going well, but I ran out of paint - LOL! So off to Lowe's we went. So tomorrow - hopefully - while Keith is at work I will finish painting the table and then Keith can put it together. WOOHOO!

It is 3:08AM and I have a migraine. Not sure why, no stress today, and I drank some caffeine and it didn't help. So up I sit. Hope this goes away soon, cause it stinks having one. If I don't feel better or can't sleep I guess I'll go play in my room and make something.

WSW at 2peas challenges

Ok title is a link to my "book of scraps" the latest additions are all WSW projects. It is really fun, I got mom's birthday card made (turtle card), my JUne COTM (bunny card) and a fun little mini book. The mini book idea is from Artiscape in Jackson, and I made another one here at home for the "door challenge" to give to hubby for fur-baby father/love you lots day.

Had my mom over last night (Wednesday) for dinner. It was her birthday dinner - her birthday is on Saturday. Keith grilled pork chops he cut himself from a loin, grilled pineapple, grilled corn, baked potatoes, grilled portabello mushrooms, and of course chocolate cake. All VERY YUMMY! I LOVE LOVE LOVE corn on the cob. I swear I could eat it everyday. YUMMO! Mom got to see the yard and patio. She said it looks good. I wish the patio had been more "done" but we are still deciding on some stuff. Plus Keith's days off have been FULL! That is the only bad thing about Panera too - when he closes - he has to go in at 2, so he leaves at 1. Well he used to have to be at CHili's at 4pm. So closes really don't count as off days anymore. Oh well.

I am STARVING, so I am off to eat some watermelon, guess that isn't too bad at midnight, huh?
